Synopsis: Eduardo Guillot’s passion project (this was supposed to have been his debut feature instead of last year’s Festival selection “All Can Fall”) centers on lawyer turned poet and guerrilla fighter Javier Heruad (1942-1963). Shot chronologically, the film follows Heruad from his university years to the many trips he made (including one to Paris where he was interviewed by Mario Vargas Llosa) to his recruitment by Peru’s National Liberation Army and death. Featuring a spellbinding performance from Steffano Tosso as Heruad, “Javier’s Passion” sheds light on a figure little known outside Peru.
